Sonora is a northern state of extreme contrasts. In this border state, which has 916 km (568 mi) of coastline along the Sea of Cortez, visitors will find all kinds of things to do.

At Guaymas, one of the main commercial ports, you’ll find marinas, golf courses, hotel resorts and excellent fishing. We recommend that you visit the San Carlos Bay and its big marina, which has the Cerro Tetakawi as a backdrop. You can also go scuba diving at an enormous artificial coral reef.

Chihuahua is Mexico’s largest state. Due to its indigenous and European influences, this state, known for its hot climate, offers an interesting cultural mix in its towns, cities and wonderful countryside. In the city of Chihuahua, the state capital, you can walk along the streets and check out the elegant plazas built in the colonial era and during the mining boom in the 19th century. In border city Ciudad Juarez, you can visit modern museums and entertaining recreational areas.

Coahuila is a large state that has a hot climate and offers great natural beauty at places like the Sierra de Arteaga, an ideal spot to do various outdoor sports, and Cuatrocienagas, where you can swim and go diving in turquoise-blue ponds. Nuevo Leon is a progressive state known as an important farming, industrial and modern commercial center. This state has a hot climate and beautiful natural scenery at places like the Bustamante Caverns and Garcia Caverns, ideal spots to go cave diving. You can also take long walks or go on a photo safari at the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, where you’ll find numerous natural attractions, such as Monterrey’s emblematic Cerro de la Silla, Chipinque Ecological Park and Huasteca Canyon, which are excellent places for ecotourism outings and adventure sports.

Tamaulipas lies proudly on the flat coastline of the Gulf of Mexico in the northern region, which has 420 km (260 miles ) of beaches, including, Playa Bagdad, Soto la Marina, Barra del Tordo and the state’s most visited beach destinations, La Carbonera and Miramar.

Sinaloa has a hot climate, beautiful natural scenery and gorgeous cities with strong traditions and culture. The port of Mazatlan offers an interesting mix of traditional architecture in its Historic Center and lovely beaches, excellent hotels and fine restaurants in the Zona Dorada, its top tourist resort. Mazatan is the hottest North Mexico real estate market right now.

Durango has dry climate throughout most of the year and rainy in the summer. This state has a cultural heritage of strong traditions and excellent cuisine. It also offers many magnificent natural environments. The mountain areas and deserts are ideal for outdoor activities like hiking; at such reserves as Michilia and Mapimi you can observe diverse flora and fauna.
