Playa del Carmen

With its countless possibilities to eat and go out, Playa del Carmen can easily put up with international standards. Its famous 5^th Avenue is a real wonderland for the senses. Besides the huge choice of Mexican food, there are two Sushi restaurants, an Arabic restaurant, a German Biergarten, an abundance of Italian and French food, a McDonald's, two Starbuck's branches, a Haagen Dazs shop and two branches of the excellent Mexican health food chain 100% Natural. A few blocks back, on the National Highway 307, is a Burger King and a bit more hidden in the streets and in-between are countless small places serving authentic Mexican food and drinks. 

Down the coast

There are a number of places not to be missed on the way from Playa del Carmen down to Tulum. The relaxed and sheltered atmosphere in Puerto Aventuras with its great range of restaurants cozily placed around the Marina is always worth a stop. On most nights at least one of them offers live music. About ten minutes further down, the Cafe del Mar in Xpu-Ha boasts with a truly paradise setting right on the beach where an afternoon is easily spent with a nice glass of wine and a dish of fresh fish. A must for fish and seafood gourmets definitely is Oscar y Lalo´s that has recently moved from the Bay of Soliman to a beautiful garden on the jungleside. For those who prefer Italian food or Tex-Mex, the Blue Sky with its fantastic location next to Casa Cenote is a great place to go.

Tulum

Other than in Playa del Carmen, Tulum town is separated by a few kilometers from its beachline. However, both parts offer a variety of bars and restaurants that ranges from Mexican and Italian to Argentinian, Thai and even German, from chilled and relaxed to festive and high-scale.
