Public Shuttle Service
The public shuttle service is probably the easiest way to travel up and down the coast as well as around the cities. Basically, those white mini-vans with orange stripes are collective taxis stopping at any point their customers ask them to. They are better known as Colectivos. They have tariffs like normal taxis, however, they are much cheaper. For a trip from Cancun to Playa del Carmen, for example, they charge 30 Pesos and from Playa to Tulum 25 Pesos. The fares cannot be negotiated and it is advisable to pay with the correct change or small bills.
