$100 Million for New Iberostar Hotel in Cancun Real Estate
“Mexico is our priority destination and the acquisition and renovation of Iberostar Cancun perfectly complements the group's broad offer in Mexico.”

This investment is another step towards strengthening our presence in the [Mexican] Caribbean and a decisive commitment to quality tourism,” said Miguel Fluxa, president of Iberostar.

Cancun, Mexico will be the new home of Spanish hotel chain Iberostar's next beachfront hotel. Formerly the Hilton Cancun Hotel and acquired last week, the property is situated just minutes from the Cancun airport and will undergo extensive renovations as part of the new brand.

With more than 425 nicely appointed rooms and villas, 16 junior suites, 4 master suites, 1 presidential suite and 2 posh villa beach suites, the hotel has ample luxury accommodations to suit any budget. In addition, its 7 infinity pools, lush gardens, professionally-sized football field, tennis courts, spa, gym and beauty salon keep virtually every activity right at your fingertips.

“This investment is another step towards strengthening our presence in the [Mexican] Caribbean and a decisive commitment to quality tourism,” said Miguel Fluxa, president of Iberostar. “Mexico is our priority destination and the acquisition and renovation of Iberostar Cancun perfectly complements the group's broad offer in Mexico.”

To attract international corporations, the resort and hotel complex boasts a convention center that is more than 4,500 sq m in size and easily divided into more than 20 meeting halls. The on-site 18-hole golf course overlooks the Mexican Caribbean and appeals to corporate visitors and traditional tourists alike.

The Hilton hotel group will continue to operate the property until it closes for renovations in August of this year, with a reopening currently scheduled for the first of December  2011 under the name Iberostar Cancun. The renovations will focus on improving the facility's entertainment, restaurant and hotel services capacity, which is at the heart of the international Iberostar brand.

A new stage is planned to showcase state of the art theatre and musical acts, while four specialty restaurants will boost the hotel's culinary offerings. These include a gourmet restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, a steak house and a traditional Mexican cantina. For families, a new children's water park and Teen Club space will provide safe, wholesome entertainment for kids and teenagers.
