Cabo Real Estate: Bisbee’s Fishing Tournament Kicks Off
Last update 17 October, 2011
More than $4 million in prize money will be given away at this event and it always attracts some of the best sport fishing crews in the world.
“This is starting out to be another great year,” said Tricia Bisbee. “We’ve got a big jump on the number of boats and payout over last year, so that’s exciting.” In addition, the weather forecast is excellent and there have been some fabulous fish caught in the area recently, making it likely to be a busy year for the tournament, which is the second leg of the Black & Blue series.
The 10th annual Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament began Saturday with a near-record field of 69 boats at Mexico’s Cabo Riviera Marina and Golf Resort. In total, more than $4 million in prize money will be given away at this event, including the Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament, and it always attracts some of the best sport fishing crews in the world.
The teams will be fishing the stunning waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez looking for record-breaking big game fish. To qualify, a blue or black marlin must weigh in at 300 pounds or more, while yellowfin tuna must weigh at least 40 pounds and dorado must meet a 30-pound minimum. In addition, striped marlin and sailfish will earn wranglers points in the catch and release category.

Bisbee’s has been holding Black & Blue tournaments in Baja California Sur for more than 30 years. Today, the organization holds three competitions annually, including the Buenavista East Cape Offshore in July, as well as the Los Cabos Offshore and Black & Blue Marlin Tournament, which are held each October in Cabo San Lucas real estate.
Known as the “Big Show,” the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is the last in the series and takes place just a few days after the Los Cabos Offshore event and is always brimming with excitement. Every year thousands of visitors descend upon Cabo to watch the sport at the marina while shopping, eating and partying as huge fish are brought in to be weighed. The scales are prominently located in the stunning Puerto Paraiso Entertainment Plaza, bringing the entire experience directly to the crowd and creating memories to last a lifetime.
