For the second year in a row, the Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park Riviera Maya, which is a renowned ecotourism complex, received a Gold Magellan Award in the “Green Hotel” category, as well as a Silver Magellan Award for “Room Design.”

The Riviera Maya's Hacienda Tres Ríos and Cancun's Sunset Royal Beach Resort have received three Magellan Awards as Travel Weekly put the international spotlight on the Mexican Caribbean. Selling more than 150,000 copies each week, Travel Weekly is one of today's most popular travel magazines, and it only presents prestigious Magellan awards to the very best travel and tourism companies in the world.

For the second year in a row, the Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park Riviera Maya, which is a renowned ecotourism complex, received a Gold Magellan Award in the “Green Hotel” category, as well as a Silver Magellan Award for “Room Design.” The resort was recognized for its efforts to preserve the region's stunning natural environment, and for the chic design of its modern guest suites.

This year the Sunset Royal Beach Resort in Cancun was also recognized for its design, receiving the Gold Magellan Award in the category of Penthouse Design for its luxurious Premier Elite rooms.

“The 2011 Magellan Awards received entries from tourism companies from all over the world,” shared Kara Cleary, the director of the Travel Weekly Magellan Awards. “Being selected for a Magellan is a huge accomplishment and it demonstrates a high level of excellence in the tourism industry.”

Both of the resorts are owned by Sunset World Resorts & Vacation Experiences, which is continuing to demonstrate its leadership in the tourism industry. Both the Hacienda Tres Ríos and the Sunset Royal Beach Resort will also be featured in the December issue of Travel Weekly. This month's special issue will be dedicated to this year's Magellan Award winners in an effort to showcase the best that the international tourism industry has to offer, including airlines, airports, cruises, hotels, rental car companies, resorts, tour operators and travel agencies.
