Christian Cantarell

Mexico City, Mexico

My name is Christian Cantarell, I was born in Mexico City but grew up most of my life in Puerto Rico with my mom and sister the rest of my childhood was moving between Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, Cancun, Miami, Tampa, Merida. Before coming to the Riviera Maya I had spent my time throughout Puerto Rico and Acapulco doing various types of Real Estate. Now I am happy to call the beautiful Riviera Maya my home and even feel more at home living in the Caribbean as Puerto Rico.

I’ve been coming down to the Riviera since I was a baby having family in the area and a my family having a Hotel in Cozumel in the 70`s and 80`s (Hotel Cantarell, where now the Grand Peninsula Condo stands). Always enjoyed coming down to the beautiful island of Cozumel and visiting places like Akumal, Playa del Carmen, Cancun it was completely another place 20-25 years ago. Now on the rise and one of the hottest markets in the world is great to be here and call it home. What more can you ask for living and working in Paradise. What brought me back to the area was while living in Acapulco and the market in decline came for a family wedding and saw the growth and opportunity that was available while having the perks of quite frankly … going back to the Caribbean side. I noticed that this niche market appealed to a large demographic and there was something for everyone here.

The lifestyle that people live in the Caribbean is different from anywhere else in the world. The diversity of people, places, and things you have access to is endless. People from over 47 different countries call this home, which gives the area an assorted array of culture, restaurants, and architecture. My typical weekends consist of cenotes, diving, surfing, soccer, fishing or just casually hanging out on the beach with some good friends.

We have all the comforts from the states to make you feel at home here (Sams Club, Costco, Home Depot, Walmart, Office Max, Starbucks, etc.. Considering that the Riviera Maya was built off of tourism the majority of people here speak English, Spanish, French, Italian again 47 different nationalities are represented here. Whatever you are from you won’t have a hard time with language barrier. Between business, pleasure, and a group of great friends and family I have cemented myself in this amazing place and plan to stay for years to come.
