St John's, CanadaRealtor Assistant
I joined Investment Properties Mexico after a long and varied life in Canada pursuing several careers; not the least of which was as wife to Doug and Mother to my now grown children. I was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the Eastern-most Province in Canada, attended Mount Saint Bernard College in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and returned to Newfoundland to teach.
After two years, I decided to set the teaching aside for a professional singing career that spanned 14 years across Canada. From the time I was eight years old, I began singing in front of audiences, competed in the Kiwanis music festivals and performed on local variety television and radio shows. I left teaching to move to Toronto and pursued a successful singing career, performing on national variety television and radio, recording and performing live.
Personal choices in my life led me to Calgary where my first child, Cameron, was born and from which I continued my career for ten years. A few years after the birth of my second child, a daughter, Dana, the family transferred to Vancouver where I made the choice to focus more on family as my priority. My natural love of people and outgoing personality eventually led me into the corporate sales world where I amassed considerable experience both there and eventually my own business as a consultant in sales, marketing and promotions. In 1996 the family was transferred to Toronto where I continued my sales and marketing career.
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be living in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, I’d have said you were crazy; especially since we had never vacationed in Mexico. But as fate would have it, an early retirement package for Doug and a desire to get away from the cold, dark winter, eventually led us here to Playa del Carmen and Investment Properties Mexico. A mutual friend in Toronto introduced us to Richard Houghton, and for about a year we and Richard communicated back and forth. The pictures of the gorgeous Riviera Maya on the extensive Investment Properties Mexico website eventually captured my heart and imagination. Doug and I decided to make the trip to meet with Richard and see the area. What we found amazing was that it was even more beautiful than the pictures; and Richard and Investment Properties Mexico’s hospitality welcomed us with open arms. After a whirlwind tour of the Riviera Maya, seeing the all the amenities available here and the rapid progress that was taking place, we returned to Toronto, packed up our belongings, gave away furniture, put the rest in storage and in thirty days made the move. As a representative of Investment Properties Mexico I am able to do what I love the most: to continue to engage with people and spread the joy of living in the Riviera Maya.
