La Fisheria

As the name implies, La Fisheria is a fresh addition to the Playa seafood restaurant scene. From the fresh design with dip-dyed chair legs, copius use of wood, a fish tank built into the wall and waiters that don Panama hats... La Fisheria serves up fresh seafood that is always cooked to perfection. Personally, we are addicted to the amazing menu of tostadas, the grilled octopus and the whole fried snapper. Oh, and they have a fantastic beer selection as well.

Diablito Cha Cha Cha

Although most people know this place primarily as a fantastic bar, you must go here to eat if you like really interesting sushi type food (although they bill themselves as Asian-Mexican fusion). Located under a huge palapa roof, Diablito Cha Cha Cha sits right in the heart of the main bar corner and is always playing amazing music, so the people watching is outstanding. Enjoy a table or lounge-like coffee table setup, or simply hang out and chat with everyone at the square bar... But let’s get back to the food, oh the glorious food! The signature rock shrimp at Diablito Cha Cha Cha is a must-try, along with the tuna tataki wrapped in greens, the boat of seared tuna sashimi, and the list goes on... Just keep in mind that this is NOT a quiet romantic restaurant. It is vibrant, full of great music and located right next door to many other bars and clubs that are not shy with the volume of their music either, especially as the night progresses. Just remember that and do NOT miss Diablito Cha Cha Cha.

El Muelle

With a name that is Spanish for “the dock,” this small and cozy restaurant on a corner of downtown Playa’s famous 5th Avenue brings new meaning to the term “farm to table,” but this time it’s “ocean to table." instead. El Muelle relies on the local fishermen every morning, so their menu is constantly evolving depending upon the freshest products that are available. Caribbean chic is how you could describe the decor, with white washed tables, a palapa roof and many natural elements. If you want a nice, intimate place to really enjoy some fresh and simple yet beautifully done seafood, this is the place to go.
