Situated just five miles (9.5 kilometers) north of the vacation town of Mahahual right on semi-private Rio Indio beach in the heart of Mexico’s stunning Costa Maya, The Jolly Mon is a comfortable, fully-furnished 3,078-square-foot home overlooking the Mexican Caribbean Sea. The spacious villa offers convenient access to the nearby paved highway and is also the closest home and rental property located north of Mahahual.
The driveway connects to a dead-end, semi-private road with very little traffic, making The Jolly Mon villa an excellent alternative to the crowds and bustle of other hotspots on the Mexican Caribbean, such as Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Despite its remote feel, within 10 minutes you can be dining in one of Mahahual’s many restaurants, hitting the bars, shopping, stocking up on groceries or enjoying any of the other activities found in the naturally beautiful Costa Maya region.
The home is connected to the public electric grid, but also has a 48-volt solar system that provides the main source of power. The villa was built by an American contractor and the work speaks for itself. A testament to its fine craftsmanship, when Hurricane Dean (a Category Five) hit in 2007 it was the only building north of Mahahual that did not sustain any structural damage. Although the eye of the storm touched land less than a quarter of a mile away, its quality construction really paid off in the minimal damage sustained by the home.
