There are also a variety of ecological theme parks around Cancun, including Xcaret, which is arguably the most popular.

Cancun is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world for a variety of excellent reasons. Here are five of the most popular excursions for visitors who want to get the most out of their time in the Mexican Caribbean.
Cancun’s beaches are one of the top reasons to come to this vacation hotspot. With miles of soft white sand that is framed by stunning crystal blue waters, it is easy to while away the day – or the week – soaking up the sun. There are a number of excellent beaches in Cancun that are perfect for families or couples to find a spot to enjoy the sand and sea, and there is hardly ever a problem of space or crowding if you are willing to do a bit of exploration.
No visit to the Yucatan Peninsula would be complete without going to see the ruins of Chichen Itza. This magnificent destination is one of many archaeological sites in the region that allow visitors to catch a glimpse of the ancient Mayan civilization that once ruled this part of Mexico. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Chichen Itza is home to the breathtaking pyramid of Kukulcan, as well as the impressive Great Ball Court and Temple of the Warriors.
There are also a variety of ecological theme parks around Cancun, including Xcaret, which is arguably the most popular. Here, you can swim in an underground river, view local wildlife and take in shows designed to be both educational and entertaining.
Snorkeling is another fabulous way to experience Cancun, thanks to the Great Mesoamerican Reef, which lies just offshore and is the second largest coral reef in the world. There are a large number of snorkeling spots that are safe and beautiful, including El Garrafon National Park near Isla Mujeres, or Punta Cancun, which is home to many exotic parrotfish.
Finally, consider taking a day trip to view the nearby town of Tulum, which is just 82 miles away from Cancun real estate and home to a spectacular seaside pyramid and ancient walled city. The historic ruins are perched atop a cliff and provide stunning views of the ocean and the nearby jungle.
